We were deeply saddened to hear that Mix Interiors’ board director, Marcie Incarico, had lost her battle against cancer. Marcie was a tour de force, bringing boundless energy and strong leadership to her team. Marcie always strived for excellence, whether working on behalf of her clients or delivering her own company’s products and events. This, of course, was most visible through the Mixology and Mixology North events, where Marcie and the team built on the successful model developed by me and Henry Pugh – a model that put celebration of the industry at its heart.
Marcie was introduced to Mix founder – the late, great Henry Pugh – in 2007 by our publisher Mark Eltringham and together helped to launch Mixology North in Manchester, along with her talented and diligent Out There Events team. Marcie was instrumental in developing the right format for Mixology North and cementing it in no time as a key event in the calendar for the city.
Marcie and the Out There team subsequently took over the organisation of both Mixology events, in London and Manchester, working alongside Henry and Mick to grow them into the largest commercial interior design awards in the UK – and a firm favourite in the industry calendar. When Henry passed away, Marcie took ownership of the Mix Media business, which included both the industry-leading awards programme and Mix Interiors, transferring the business from rural Essex to vibrant Manchester.
Always no-nonsense, loud and proud (you could often hear her above the hum of a room, even before you saw her), Marcie knew exactly what she wanted from her business, was always determined to succeed, and was fiercely protective of her family and immensely proud of her Neapolitan roots (she even followed both Napoli and Liverpool’s football clubs).
Our thoughts are with Martin, Luigi, Bella, Marcie’s extended family and friends, and the Mix team at this difficult time. YNWA.
