Flokk strengthens North American push with new acquisition
Global furniture manufacturer Flokk has strengthened its push into the North American market with the acquisition of US-based Spec Furniture, as part of an ongoing strategy that has seen the company build a significant presence in the US and Canada through a series of deals. The Oslo-headquartered firm said the move forms part of its long-term growth strategy centred on acquisitions, particularly in the fragmented office furniture sector. The company has expanded from a Nordic seating specialist into a broader international business through a combination of organic growth and takeovers.
Spec Furniture, which focuses on commercial seating and tables, will join Flokk’s portfolio of brands, which already includes Connection, HÅG, Giroflex, RH and a number of North American businesses acquired in recent years. The company has previously bought 9to5 Seating in 2019 and Stylex in 2023, followed by Via Seating in 2025, as it has sought to build scale in the US market.
Flokk said the latest acquisition would strengthen its offering in key product categories and support its ambition to become a global leader in workplace furniture. The firm has increasingly focused on North America, where demand has been shaped by changing workplace patterns and a gradual return to offices.
The company’s US operations now account for a substantial share of overall revenues, reflecting a deliberate shift towards geographic diversification. Recent acquisitions have helped the region grow to around 40 percent of total sales, underlining its importance to the group’s future development.
Spec Furniture will continue to operate as part of Flokk’s wider portfolio, with the group typically maintaining the independence of acquired brands while seeking efficiencies in areas such as supply chain, engineering and distribution. This approach has been a consistent feature of its expansion strategy.
Flokk said the deal would create opportunities to accelerate growth across its North American business, while broadening its product range for commercial interiors and workplace environments.
