New European Awards recognise leadership in sustainable building
The first awards to recognise outstanding leadership in sustainable building in Europe have been launched by the World Green Building Council’s European Regional Network. The “WorldGBC Leadership Awards – Europe Region” will honour best practice and excellence in cities’ green building policy, as well as in construction projects and corporate initiatives across the continent. The awards feature three categories – Excellence in City Policy for Green Building, Leadership in Building Design and Performance, and Business Leadership in Sustainability – and are open to city councils and policy makers, projects and businesses.
James Drinkwater, Senior Policy Advisor to the European Network, said: “These awards are a chance to publicly showcase the best that Europe has to offer in terms of green building projects, sustainable business and innovative public policy. It is an exciting moment in time for green building in Europe and GBCs across our Network are harnessing the power of shared knowledge and best practice to drive sustainability across the region.
“We invite both industry and the public sector to use these awards as an opportunity to share their successes and educate a new generation of leaders.”
The awards are based on the WorldGBC Government Leadership Awards, which highlight excellence in leadership in green building from cities around the world.
Entries are now open and close on 1 August 2013. UK nominations should be made through the UK Green Building Council
The winners will be announced during World Green Building week, which takes place from 16 to 20 September 2013.
