A survey of UK employers and employees gives insight into the lack of provision for remote and hybrid workers to carry out their roles. While just over half (56 percent) of employers admit they regularly check in with all employees to enquire about their health and wellbeing and 55 percent provide laptops, 73 percent of employees are ready to choose their next employer based on physical, health and wellbeing support and flexible technology provision. Flex office provider The Instant Group has merged Davinci Virtual Office Solutions into its online marketplace for flexible workplace. Last week, Instant announced the creation of what it claims is the world’s largest independent marketplace for flexible workspace through the merger with key digital assets from IWG plc including: EasyOffices.com, Meetingo.com, Rovva and Worka. A new poll from the ADP Research Institute (ADPRI) claims that 64 percent of the global workforce was negatively impacted by coronavirus. However, 66 percent of UK workers feel optimistic about the next five years at work, and a third think COVID-19 will have a positive effect on work cultures including through greater flexibility (34 percent) and better work-life balance (28 percent). NewFlex, an operator of flexible offices and “space-as-a-service” solutions with fifty sites across the UK, has been appointed to curate and manage the incubator and innovation workspace community at the landmark London office 22 Bishopsgate. To be known as The Exchange (branded as XCHG) and specifically targeting start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs, the c.14,000 sq ft flexible office and co-working space on level seven will be NewFlex’s most significant space as-a-service project to date, aiming to create a bespoke environment that fosters innovation. A new survey claims that workers with access to workplace platforms and apps on their personal devices check notifications more regularly out of office hours than those without access. The Digital Detox survey, conducted by Just Eat for Business, claims to uncover workers’ habits towards breaks and computer use, focusing on screen time. The study also includes expert comments on the mental impact of skipping breaks, and offers advice on how to combat it. More →

British Land has signed 34 new deals totalling 238,000 sq ft across its central London campuses. Since the half year results, nine businesses have signed 125,000 sq ft at newly refurbished buildings at Broadgate. New occupiers include customer engagement platform, Braze (49,000 sq ft, Exchange House); proprietary trading firm, Maven Securities (38,000 sq ft, 155 Bishopsgate); US-based law firm, Jenner & Block LLP (13,000 sq ft, 10 Exchange Square) and markets’ infrastructure and technology platform, Symphony (7,000 sq ft, 135 Bishopsgate).
